La matematica in inglese con le canzoni: Three is the magic number
Ormai e’ un dato di fatto che le filastrocche aiutano ad imparare, non a caso le canzoni in inglese vengono utilizzate nella maggior parte dei corsi di inglese precoce. Il materiale a disposizione e’ veramente tanto, infatti il sistema americano in particolare ma anche quello piu’ tradizionalmente British si basano sull’ apprendimento tramite il gioco e le canzoni rispecchiano questo tipo di insegnamento. Cantando si imparano l’alfabeto, i giorni della settimana, i mesi dell’anno, i colori, i nomi di animali e anche la matematica. A parte le filastrocche piu’ conosciute che insegnano a contare, ci sono le canzoni che stimolano i bambini a fare dei calcoli semplici ma ci sono anche le canzoni per le tabelline. Three is the magic number e’ una canzone degli anni Settanta del musicista Jazz Bob Dorough che ha riscosso molto successo nelle classifiche ma che aveva scritto per un programma educativo The School House Rock e non e’ altro che la tabellina del 3.
Grazie al materiale disponibile online ormai possiamo anche noi usare lo stesso materiale per i nostri bambini e dato che le tabelline sono al centro del programma scolastico di mio figlio nelle prossime settimane su Elefante a Pois proporremo le canzoni piu’ carine sulle tabelline in inglese. Iniziamo con la tabellina del 3 perche’ questa canzone mi e’ sempre piaciuta molto, ma vi anticipo che ne ho gia’ trovate delle altre per il 2 e il 4 che sono molto simpatiche.

Multiply backwards from three times ten:
Three time ten is (30), three times nine is (27),
Three times eight is (24), three times seven is (21),
Three times six is (18), three times five is (15),
Three times four is twelve,
And three times three is nine, and three times two is six,
And three times one is three of course.
Now take the pattern once more:
Three! . . .3-6-9
Twelve! . . .12-15-18
Twenty-one!. . .21-24-27. . .30
Now multiply from 10 backwards:
Three time ten is (30 – Keep going), three times nine is (27),
Three times eight is (24), three times seven is (21),
Three times six is (18), three times five is (15),
Three times four is twelve,
And three times three is nine, and three times two is six,
And three times one…
What is it?!
Three!

I video earano a disposizione su You tube fino a qualche tempo fa ma sono stati rimossi di recente dall’utente che li ha rimessi in commercio per cui la presenza gratis su You Tube danneggia le potenzialita’ di vendita. Per chi fosse interessato la serie completa su DVD puo’ essere acquistata online su Amazon.
